>How do I assign 'unique' page numbers and Chapter Headings to
>sub-documents that are part of a Master Document?

Could you be more specific about what you're trying to do? What do you
mean by "unique page numbers and chapter headings"? I've never had to do
anything fancy with page numbers in my relatively straight-forward
documents, but if I knew exactly what you were trying to do, I'd spend
some time playing with it to see if I could make it work.

We'll see if we can lick this thing, or if it's one of the things that
just can't be done in a master document. But first I need to understand
better what you are trying to do. I like master documents and use them
all the time to manage multichapter books. But they have limitations,
sometimes annoying ones.

Or maybe one of the experts on the list will beat me to it and give you
the perfect answer.

You can put text directly into a master document, between subdocuments.
Could this be what the other users meant?

1. Create a master document and add subdocuments.
2. Right-click a subdocument in the Navigator, then click Insert >
Text.
3. Enter the text.

This creates a text section in the master document, not additional text
files.
