I am only too glad to have been of help.
I had asked this same question a year ago,
and someone on this users list answered
this for me.

That works!
Thanks very much.
Not real intuitive, since for most if not all other modifications that
are done to the chart, the chart needs to be double-clicked to go into
edit mode. And I was not able to find this anywhere in any
documentation that I searched. I can't claim that it wasn't there; it
could be that I just missed it. But it certainly wasn't obvious.
Anyway, thanks again.

Step 1: Click anywhere else besides the
chart. You want to remove focus.
Step 2: Click the chart ONCE ONLY to put focus on the whole chart.
Step 3: Right click and in the context menu you can click on a link to
the data source.

I also noticed the grayed-out "Data
Sources" menu choice, and it seemed like that was just what I wanted --
if only it wasn't grayed out! I tried a number of things, including
creating a very simple chart from scratch, and the selection was always
grayed out.

Subject: Re: [users] Finding and editing data ranges of charts
I'm not sure if the question about changing the source data is in the
user
guides. I've downloaded the most recent OOo general guide and its not
in
there, and there isn't one from OOoAuthors. I'm don't know how to do
that
either. When a chart is double-clicked for editing, a selection called
'Data
Sources' appears in the Edit menu, but it's greyed out. Maybe that's
the way
to do it if you find a way so it's not greyed out.
