Subscript and Superscript bottons have been available at least since
1.1.4. (I just checked.) At least they are on Linux, so I assume this is
true for Windows also.
If Control+Shift+B results in an underscored B, you have a problem.
Underscoring is Control+U. Did you have all three keys held down at the
same time? With your results you might want to look at
Tools > Customize > Keyboard (tab) to see what is listed to the right of
Control + Shift + B.
I was able to write Na2SO4 with the proper subscripts using Control +
Shift + B to created the subscript and then return it to normal in Linux
on 1.1.4 and 2.0.2. (Both of these distributions came from the OOo web
site.
