While OpenOffice.org 2.0 will read the MS Word file format, MS Word
will not read the OOo 2.0 format. For them you need to do a Save As and
set your File type as MS Word 97/2000/XP (.doc) as . Only then should
you send them the document as an attachment.

Or better yet, send them the link to OpenOffice.org and let them
download OOo for themselves.
If they don't need to edit the documents, then send them as PDF's.
