Interesting. It seems that Firefox only has 2 buttons to choose from. It is strange enough to see the discrepancy between the two brothers.

With Mozilla, I get such a box, and there is a third choice, Open with this application. Selecting OOo as the application to open a .doc file might do the trick. (Similarly for the other MS Office files).
