I think so. Before you start downloading, I suggest that you remove whatever openoffice* rpms you currently have installed. This gives you a clean slate. To start the download process, click on the big green button on www.openoffice.org . You will go to a page with a bunch of selections, so click on Download OpenOffice.org . This brings up the dialogue for selecting the OS, language and where to get it but do _NOT_ make these selections yet. Notice that just under the "Select your download site" box there is a link "Please check the md5sum" Take it and collect the md5sum for LinuxIntel which is what mandriva is. I recommend you choose the one with the JRE even if you have a JRE installed just to be safe. Now you have the checksums, click Back and select whatever you need in the dropdowns. Download the one you want and, in an terminal window, use the resident md5sum utility against the file downloaded. They should match. Next untar the archive. What you should get is some directories that you may have to navigate one of which is RPMS. Now all you have to do is use rpm to install the software. The http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/2.x/en/SETUP_GUIDE.pdf has all the steps laid out for installing and removing which is useful if you are unfamiliar with Linux or even if you are ;-) Try the above and let us know if the "official" release solves your problem. -- PLEASE KEEP MESSAGES ON THE LIST.
