I am about to make a move over to the Ubuntu Linux OS. Is there an easy way I can export all my user options into the Linux version of the program, or will I have to do it all manually? Any help in making this transition would be greatly appreciated.

First, once you have Ubuntu installed, install all your fonts from the
[I suppose] Windows computer. Then install OO.o using Synaptic. And
finally, copy all your templates over to the Linux computer. Most of
your settings and preferences are in the templates. Only problem with
this advice is that I have asked repeatedly and no one can tell me
where the main template for new documents is located or what it is
called. You'll probably have to do a few additional tweaks, but if you
transfer all templates that should handle most things.

It depends on which template you are talking about. In Windows the main default template (which you wouldn't want to alter) is in Program Files\OpenOffice\share. I don't know about Linux but if you can find the main program the directories from there on should be the same.

Any templates that you have created or modified from the defaults are stored in your profile. In Windows it will be in Documents & Settings\your name\Application Data\OpenOffice\user\template. Again, in Linux, if you can find where your profile is stored you should be able to find a user directory. Don't forget that in Linux a lot of programs are stored in hidden directories. If you do a CTRL-H while in the file browser they will all show up.
