Either 1. ask them to install Openoffice.org or 2. if they use MS-Word, send document as Wordfile: > File > Send > Send as MS-Doc-Attachment. or 3. if they have a PDF-Reader, send document as PDF: (see 2. ... > Send as PDF), however, they won't be able to edit the file then.
