The chapters that start in a later paragraph will not be shown in a header. the only way I know, would be this: Insert a frame at the end of the chapter-title that you want to view in the header. Use the format "anchor to paragraph" and "Position horizontal from left ba xx cm to left page border/Position vertical from top by xx cm to entire page". That makes that the frame will be always on the same page as the chapter-titel and always on the same position. Into the frame you put the field for the chapter number. Once created and filled this frame you can simply copy it to further chapters. cheers
