I have OO-2.0.2 running under FreeBSD 5.4. I tried making a very elementary template and saving it File -> Templates -> save as ... Now when I open the New -> Template_and_Documents dialogue with My Templates on the top line iconned as a folder/directory double clicking on that descends into that directory and shows the template I created. And from there I can select and load it. Reading your note it would appear you did not do the final descent. "My Templates" is not the real name of the directory and why openoffice doesn't match the real directory name to the dialog identity is not clear -- to my mind this creates confusion -- shades of MS who like to hide what is really going on.
