desire, then copy the data from the old table to the new one and delete

Looks like you're correct. It works in MS Excess 2003 (just tested it),
but
of course, that's not what I generally use. Oh well. I can live with it.

You should be able to do it. Even way back in the "dark ages", using
CP/M on a Kaypro box with only 64K of RAM, with Perfect Filer you could
add a field then us a untility to "recorganize" the database. Most of
you boys and girls have no idea what we were able to do back in those
days with so little RAM and an 8-bit OS.....sometimes storage was only a
5.25" floppy. :)
