Hi Karlo, I also use SuSE 10.1 and have no such problems opening the File dialog. Are you using KDE or GNOME ? You could change the dialogs used to be the native OOo ones rather than the desktop specific ones using "Tools" -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> General.
