Accounting format in Quattro Pro and Excel?
I have seen this question asked before but have not found any
satisfactory solution, especially when importing exporting Excel spread
sheets.
How does this "Accounting format" differ from what is available via
Format > Cells > Number > Currency ? Please explain in detail or are we
supposed to guess?
The accounting format pads the entry on both sides (basically a blank
space), left justifies the currency symbol (inside the padding) and
right justifies the number (inside the padding). The column headers or
label text are also right justified.
I can find mo way to pad in the manner you describe. Therefore, I
suggest that you enter an Request for Enhancement (RFE) into Issue
Tracker as this is the best way to have requests such as this evaluated.
If you haven't already registered, do the following:
1. To file an issue you must register with OOo by clicking the
My Pages tab and selecting the Register link
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/Join
2. Fill in your information
3. Reply to the confirmation email that will be sent to the address
you provided.
4. Once you have confirmed, go to www.openoffice.org again
5. And click on the "My Pages" tab from which you can file and find
issues.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is important that you file
any examples with the issue to ensure your need is understood.
I will file the request as you suggest, although I have seen
discussion of the is issue since OpenOffice.org 1.x so I suspect there
is already a request filed.
If the padding were omitted is there a way to left justify the
currency symbol and right justify the number?
You could try custom formatting. See Help > Contents > Index > Search
term > format codes;currencies
That does not offer the possibility of the creating the required format.
I checked the issue database and it is issue 15773
<http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=15773>. It has been
open for a long time. Several other issues have been closed as
duplicates. There does not appear to have any active development.
Added my vote and changed the version to 2.0.3
