I am trying to register a new data source, and can't figure out what is wrong.

I found in the user's guide I should do Tools->Data Sources to open up a dialog to add a data source. I don't have Data Sources under my Tools menu. Do you have that menu item?

I did successfully add one last week, but I have no memory of how I did it.

I can view my current data sources (F4 or View->Data Sources) but can't figure out how to add a new one within that.

Any help would be appreciated!

Ubuntu OOo 2.0.2

I use the menu path: File > Wizards > Address Data Source

Dick Detwiler, Rochester, NY

Dick:

That's better than the one I found which was File->New Database and linking it to a spreadsheet. I don't this the new database will update if I update the spreadsheet, which is what I want. The way you did it, I think if I update the spreadsheet, I'll get it in the data source.

GRS: Should the users guide be updated - or do others with 2.0.x have Tools->Data Sources ?

I am sorry I do not understand. Here is what I wrote::

The Database Chapter of the guide is in revision to update it. I think
what you want is File > New > Database. I too am waiting for the
update. In the meantime, please take advantage of the OOoAuthor's Chapter
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0110GS-GettingStartedWithBase.pdf

What am I missing? Scott Carr, my lead, is working on the rewrite and
trying to create a sample database at the same time.

Please explain.

GRS: I responded to Rick before I received your reply. So, the emails crossed in cyber space. I'm glad the chapter is getting updated.
