Hi again Uwe, Thanks for your reply. I have have no wish to belabour (drag on) this issue, but I would like to add a couple of points just for clarification. I do understand that some distributions modify OOo code and this can produce unpredictable results. I only ever download and install the "official" versions of OOo. Over the past week I have upgraded OOo with the "official" version for several customers and friends (both Linux & Windows) and I have noticed that if I use my CD copy to do the upgrade the "Check for Upgrade" always displays in the help dropdown menu, but sometimes, if I download onto the user's machine from the "official" OOo mirrors, the option does not always display in the help dropdown menu. It's an easy fix for me to make the option reappear in the help dropdown menu, so it's not really a problem for me. As yet I have not seen this condition with a completely new install. So I am wondering if this has something to do with the upgrade code. Anyway, it's good to know that someone with a sun.com address takes the time and interest to take a look at postings on this list.
