Whenever I want to delete the information in one cell, I simply press
the DELETE button on my keyboard, but it always brings the DELETE

How do eliminate this extra step, so when I press the DELETE button,
it immediately deletes the contents of the cell, without bringing up
this extra DELETE CONTENTS dialog?

Thanks

Press the Backspace button to delete the cell contents instantly, without having it ask any further questions.

Richard:

I hate that one too. You can change what the delete keys does by customizing the keyboard. To do this:
Tools->Customize
Click Keyboard tab, scroll down to delete or backspace key (which ever is offending you) and select it Select from the functions below: Category: Edit, Function: Delete, then press modify.

Repeat as necessary

Crystle: Actually, the "feature" of the Delete key bringing up the dialog used to bother me a lot, but it doesn't any more, once I read that pressing the Backspace key will delete the contents instantly, which is what I generally want to do. Given that the Backspace key is only a few cm away from the Delete key, it didn't take long to get used to hitting Backspace to delete cell contents, rather than Delete. But I'm not sure how well documented this feature is, so I suspect that many users do get a bit frustrated at the Delete key bringing up the dialog.
