I think perhaps the automatic file extension: .odt is not be added to
file names. There is a check box when you do the first save that may
have gotten unchecked.
To test, you could open a file, and then do File->Save As. Look for the
box to check and see if it is checked. If not, then check it and that
should solve your problem.
If the box is checked, please write back and try to explain your problem
in another matter so we can determine what is happening to you. Tell us
what should be happening and what is happening.
