Why are you downloading the source code and compiling it? Why don't you
download the binary? It works quite well with Mandrake 9.0. I know because I
had Mandrake 9.1 on my computer and installed OOo on it. I have never had the
problems you are experiencing. I have since upgraded my OS to Mandriva 2006.
