The following worked for me, but YMMV.

As Root/Administrator user, run the "Install new dictionaries" wizard.
Select the "spell checker", "hyphenation" and "thesaurus" for your
dialect of English. Just before the wizard starts the download, uncheck
the "Do not download ... (No upgrade)" option and allow the wizard to
overwrite any of these components you already have installed.

It appears that the only English thesaurus currently available is US
English, but I have found that the above process resets the
"Dict/Hypen/Thes" language configuration, so that the US thesaurus
appears as the selected English variant (in my case Australian).

It is possible to directly edit the configuration file, but the above
process is easier to explain and I have found it to be more reliable.
