Yep, you can use OOo on a macbook, but you're going to have to use it through X11, which is the UNIX graphics server:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/x11formacosx.html Once you have that installed and running, you can get the Intel mac version: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ooo-osx_downloads.html If you don't want to deal with X11 (though it's not that bad, I use OOo through X11), you can try NeoOffice/J: http://www.neooffice.org/ The 2.0 Aqua version will be out in August. -Roberto.
