OOo does run on Intel macs; I'm running it on my Macbook Pro. You can
get it compiled for Intel, but there are a couple of gotchas.

First, the Intel version is a "non-QA" version, which means it's still
being tested. That said, for what I've done, it has behaved just
fine.

Secondly, there isn't a truly native version for OS X; you're going to
have to run X11, which is the UNIX graphics engine. It's provided by
Apple here:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/x11formacosx.html

The non-QA version for intel is here:

ftp://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/2.0.3rc7/OOo_2.0.3rc7_MacOSXIntel_en-US.dmg

Using it this way is not horrible, but it's not ideal either. Keep an
eye on this project for an Aqua native version of OOo 2.0:

hi

for school i am contemplating buying a mac, and downloading oo.org 2.0 into an
intel based mac book. i have read numerous reports adn reviews that say
non-native programs + programs based for non-intel macs run MUCH slower on a
intel macbook/imac. does this apply to oo. org? i have it on my pc, and LOVE
it, so i'd apperciate a repply soon. thanks, kd
