Just to clarify some things. Say you created and saved (using M$ word) a document with 2 passwords (one to open and one to modify). Then you asked OOo to open that document. OOo would ask for the password to open and if correctly provided, the document would open. This means that password protected word documents can be opened by OOo.
If you supplied OOo with the incorrect password, it does the correct thing and does not allow the document to be opened. However it should be noted, that OOo (in the above cases) does not prompt for a 'read only' password. The document is opened by OOo available for editing. If you reopened the file in word, it would prompt you once for a password to open, and again for a password to modify. Same process is followed when using excel instead of word. Probably could be applied for all M$ office products. To take it one step further. As someone else has already mentioned, you cannot apply a password, of any type, to a file when it is saved by OOo in word format. I personally find the way the M$ office ( tools > options > security ) much harder and lengthy than simply applying the password when saving the document. /paul --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
