[users] can't save file in microsoftword to e-mail and open

Hi- I am using OpenOffice2.0 on windows XP. When I go to save as, then to file 
type, no matter what microsoft file format I choose a window opens that says 
"can't save in Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP file format [or other microsoft 
formats]. So as it stands , I can't e-mail an attachment that others can open.
