When I am OOo, I can click on the grey shaded areas. Then a pop up box
appears. I can type in that (eg. my name) and when I hit okay, it 'fills
in the form'.
I have not 'unprotected' anything. Is this not a workable solution?
The only issue would be that you can't tab between the form fields.

Crystle,
I don't see any "grey shaded areas". Apart from text, which is black, and a
few headings which are yellow (like "Your interests"), the entire document
is white. Which version of OO are you using and on which platform? I'm 2.0.3
on Win XP Pro/SP2
Aaaaahhhhhhhhh !!!!!
If I click *in the middle* of the space below a question then I get the
error message when I start typing.
If I move the mouse to near the left edge of the space below a question then
the cursor changes to a hand and, if I click now, then I get a pop-up box
into which I can enter text. The "working area" is quite small
Here is a small diagram; the "a" and "b" are simply to show you
approximately where I click:
------------------------------------
1. Enter your Name:
a b

-------------------------------------
If I click near, or to the right of the position labelled "b" then I get the
error message. Near "a" I get the hand and the pop-up box.
It is a completely workable solution.
It is also, IMHO, completely counter-intuitive and unexpected.
It's also a shame, I think, that you can't tab between the fields. That's a
much more natural way of doing things and avoids mixing mouse and keyboard
(one of many bees in my bonnet).
Now the only mystery is why I don't see the grey shaded areas.
Thank you for your help.
Regards, Harold
