Tools -> Autocorrect -> Options tab -> Apply numbering [uncheck it]

I'm guessing that in fact you've added a border to the preceding paragraph, 
the border consisting of just the lower line. You haven't added a 
self-standing line.
Tools -> Autocorrect -> Apply border determines when to create such a border.

To remove the border, with cursor in the preceding paragraph, right click -> 
Paragraph -> Borders tab and clear the lower line in the diagram.

It's worth investigating all the autocorrect options to set them as you want 
them.
