I changed those 244's under [General] background to 160's...now
everything is a nice solid gray. In fact it's probably a little darker
than it ever was in previous versions, but I like it!

By the way, that file is not in: 

~/Libarary/Application Support/OpenOffice.org 2.0/users folder

on my machine; it's in the application package itself:

Macintosh HD/Applications/OpenOffice.org 2.0/Contents/MacOS/presets/
