I have not been keeping up with this list so my apologies in advance if
this issue has been dealt with.

I have been a long time advocate of Open Office and look forward to each
update as the one which will finally let me cease using MS Office
products. Each time though, I am disappointed. Even though 2.0 has
some new wizards for mail merge, it just isn't ready. Cumbersome to use
and try updating fields on a spreadsheet and having the data update in
Writer. Long battles to make such things work can sometimes by hay
wired together. In MS stuff it works. It is painful to say, but that is
where millions of users, me included, are at.

The biggest problem lately though OpenOffice crashes. I try and try to
use it in WinXP home. You just never know when it will crash. I use it
in kubuntu and another user I know does the same. Lets just say we have
both learned the hard way to save often. Two different users, several
different computers, two different platforms.

Anyway, I just lost a half hour of time trying to unkludge a windows
computer choked with a locked up instance of Calc and I am sorry to say
that despite the obvious issues I have no choice but to give up on Open
Office for now. Just need to get some work done. From here it is
AbiWord or the KDE versions for linux or MS for windows.

Maybe later . . . . bye for now.
