However when I try to run OOo I get the menu bar but can >not open a new document. Then I receive the message " Command Timed >out " I see the X11 icon in the Dock pop up and down then this icon >disappears. It seems the X11 program is trying to load but is >prevented from doing so?. Not sure wha the problem is, is there >another site I can download the X11user.pkg. First, I would like for you to try something for me. Go to the Applications -> Utilities folder and try to start X11. You should end up with a terminal window for the Xterrm program on your screen. If you do not, please visit the Apple X11 site for troubleshooting techniques. X11 must be fully operational before OpenOffice.org will run on your iMac. Also, as an additional note, you must drag the OpenOffice.org program from the disk image folder to your Applications folder. It will not run properly from within the disk image folder. You can do this by opening the Macintosh HD item on your Desktop and then clicking on Applications. Click and hold the mouse button down and move the icon to the Applications folder. Lastly, but most important, the X11 and OpenOffice.org programs must be installed by an administrative user. An ordinary user cannot install X11. I made the assumption from your message that you are using an administrative user for this process as you state you received no errors while installing X11. James M.
