Unfortunately, I had only scanned the article when making my original post. Having digested it further, the original developer is Noel Power of Novell and he has been assisted by Nakata Maho of BSD, along with Hanno Meyer Thurow of Gentoo(My Distro!). Having seen the connection with Gentoo, I tried the demo file(hypocycloid-demo.xls) and IT WORKS! The tutorial goes on to explain how to obtain and install the VBA compatibility code. This is via http://go-oo.org , http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Getting_it and http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Building . It also advises that there is an incubator project started at http://vba.openoffice.org , which actually redirects to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/VBA Looking on www.distrowatch.com , I see there is a liveDVD available for SUSE 10.1, which I would assume includes the compatibility code. Alternatively, there is a new release candidate of Sabayon liveDVD(www.sabayon.org) which is based on Gentoo, again I assume this will include the VBA compatibility. Either of these would provide an opportunity to test the code, if it was not available on the currently installed OS.
