Thanks, Claudia. I looked and will add a comment to the Issue. It suggests the blank page is for those using duplex printing, but if true, I think the default should be no blank page with an option to add one for duplex printing. The way I work, I typically create a source document and add the fields. Then when I want to mail merge, I go to the wizard and skip immediately to #7, the print and save step. The issue discussion seemed focused on providing a warning before step 7, but that wouldn't help me as I'd never see it.
Now, when I create my document and go directly to step 7, the very first thing that happens is OOo generates a single merged document. If this strategy is to stay, this would seem to be the point at which the user is prompted for whether or not they want blank pages for duplex printing. In any case, IMO the default should be no blank pages.
