Sorry I meant pps files and not pdf file. So my question is the same as below except for the file type

I do not recall seeing an answer to your question so I will give it a
go.
First you say that the file is coming to you as a pdf and then you ask
about Impress opening it.
PDF files cannot be opened/imported by ANY component of OpenOffice.org.
So starting the show automatically within OOo is not possible. Since you
haven't said I will guess your OS is some sort of Windows and your PDF
reader is likely to be AcroReader. I would suggest that you see if
acroreader can do this. Under Linux, which I use, I have been able to
get AcroReader to do this.
