Here is a brief update: OS: Linux Ubuntu Dapper Drake 6.061 LTS HW: PII Pentium 300Mhz 292MB RAM 1. Deinstalled OOo 2.0.3 (Ubuntu dapper-proposed repository version) to ensure that the existing version doesn't interfere with the test version. 2. Converted the RPM's to DEB and installed. Installation encountered no problems - other than the fact that the install took up nearly 500MB of disk space. 3. Added the menu items back into the GNOME application "Office" menu. This isn't a problem, but it might be helpful to have a bundled script that does this as part of the install - with a distinct name to differenciate between an already installed OOo version if the other is not removed. Also, I'm not sure that "OpenOffice Premium" is particularly a proper name; this implies that it is a version produced and published by OOo. Perhaps something along the line of "OpenOffice - KAMI" or "OOoKAMI" would be more appropriate? No problems encountered so far, but then I've just started... However, I do notice that OOo seems to run/start much slower (seems about twice as slow) than the dapper-proposed repository 2.0.3 version. I probably should have taken some run/start readings before deinstalling the previous 2.0.3 version. I'll run it for week or two & then check back in and let everyone know how it's going... unless of course there is anything major to report before then. NB: I have to agree with Arnold Huzen when he said: > I can understand that you are proud on the work you have done to create > the OOo Premium CD. But please do not post an item on this forum every > day. If you want the interest of people it is better to have a link on > the OOo-download pages and explain exactly which enhancements you have > put together. > > Arnold Huzen Folks (like me) are willing to give it a test, but (and no offense intended) the continued announcements in the openoffice.questions and openoffice.general groups are somewhat excessive :-) Further; subject titles such as "OpenOffice.org Premium 2.0.3 has released" are probably not appropriate either. This indicates that it is an official OOo release, when in fact it is a derivitive/3rd party implementation. That said: thanks for all of the time and effort putting this OOoKami version together :-) I'll run it for a week or two and report back then. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
