OOo has never worked with nfs. See: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=36634 This bug only refers to reading / writing documents on an nfs share, but I suppose there's not reason why it wouldn't apply if your home directory was on an nfs share. Note that this bug is now marked as a 'duplicate'. I disagree with this, but have long since lost motivation to pursue it.
