Let me add to the previous reply that the Quickstarter icon will not
appear until: either you have re-started Windows, or have run
OpenOffice.org at least once after installing it.  However, after a
successful installation on Windows, there is a new group in your
Start->All Programs menu, which contains the shortcuts of all the OOo
applications.  You could copy and paste one of these to your desktop, if
you wish.
