OpenOffice.org 2.0 seems to be somewhere between 10 and 100 times slower than
MS Office, according to some articles I've read. Unfortunately I couldn't find
them on the Internet, so obviously I read them in a newspaper or something like
that.. According to my own experience, 100 times are closer to the truth than
10, at least on my PC, so for me OpenOffice.org 2.0 was totally unusable, so I
simply uninstalled it and continued to use OpenOffice.org 1.1.5.
However, the same article said that this is one of the issues that is probably
going to be taken care of in the nearest future, so I guess that we will see an
improvement there soon. I think it was some kind of interview with some google
guy or something. I just can't keep everything I read in my head... or maybe I
just dreamed the whole article thing... ha ha ha
Sorry for replying...
By the way, OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 is very slow too, but I will still never go
back to MS Office. OpenOffice.org is just so much better, in my opinion. When I
buy a fast PC, I will give OpenOffice.org 2.0 another try. Or maybe it will be
OpenOffice.org 3.0...

2006/8/30, M Fuller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
I tried version 2.0.3 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is : 1. Very slow
to start
2. "Recent Documents" under the "File" tab does not update.
3. Operation is generally slow.
I have since gone back to version 2-1.0.0, and the problems mentioned
above are not apparent.
I hope the alleged security issues are not too serious.
Thanks,
Mike Fuller
