I had the exact same problem on Mac OS X 10.4.7. Make sure you're logged in to an administrator account when you trash your current X11, and then *empty* (or secure empty) the trash - just dragging it to the trash didn't work for me. I then re-installed X11 from my install DVD, and OOo worked. This is contrary to the experience of another user who found that the X11 on his CD didn't work, but the one from the Apple site did work, so I don't know which one will work for you.
