I am investigating the use of OpenOffice in our business. I represent the
Systems Division at The TJX Companies (www.tjx.com). TJX is the parent
company of ~2500 retail stores around the country. I am interested in
using openoffice in each of our store locations for back-office use. The
OpenOffice product would be loaded on our Windows Servers and would be
utilized by store personnel only, no customer facing use at all.
Please let me know who I need to contact about using the product in a
commercial location and if there are any licensing limitations or fees.
The formal license terms can be found at
http://www.openoffice.org/license.html
In short, you don't need to contact anyone or pay any money before,
during, or after you download, copy, distribute and use the OpenOffice
application, no matter what it's intended purpose. It's free to use by
anyone for any purpose. The more the merrier. You could give it away to
your customers if you wanted to.
Other contacts that may be useful can be found at:

Since it sounds like you are only intending to use the OpenOffice
application, as distinct from modifying it's source code, the license
conditions on source code distribution and use won't apply to you.
The license (the LGPL) may appear to be typically convoluted, but it
says that anyone may copy, distribute, and use the application. It does
not discriminate with respect to who or why. Since the executable
packages are available on the OpenOffice.org web site for no cost
(except for your usual ISP charges), you may choose to get it from
there. When you install the software, you will be shown and asked to
accept the LGPL license and warranty.
The license is primarily concerned with ensuring that you are able to
use the software and get the software's source code should you ever want
or need it, and also in preventing you from restricting the rights of
others to enjoy those same conditions.
