Your problem is that: 1. The X11 downloadable from Apple is not
compatible with the version of Mac OS X loaded on your MacTel machine, thus
2.  You must install X11 from the installation disks shipped with your
MacBookPro (they are in the black box in the shipping box from Apple.) 
Put the disk in your machine until the screen comes up to install
software.  Navigate to the Optional packages item and start it.  Select
install X11 ONLY.  Start up the installation program and let it run
through.  This should take about 10 or so minutes.  Once X11 is
installed you should have no further alerts for the non existance of
this program.
