Can you start X11?  This is the first process called when OpenOffice.org
for the Mac is started.

If you want to check out your X11 installation, open the Applications
folder, then open the Utilities folder.  Double click on the X11 item
and you should see X11 in the top bar and a xterm window should open. 
If this does not happen, either X11 is not installed on your system (the
X11 item is missing in the utilities folder) or X11 was not installed
properly.  X11 MUST be installed by an adminstrative user and must be
installed from the installation disks that came with your iMac, or the
Tiger upgrade disk.  If you installed the X11 that can be downloaded
from Apple, it should NOT be installed on Tiger as it is only for
Panther (10.3).
