Actually, I had been using it for some time. Then it went wonky in the middle of my novella, and I just now got around to fixing it.

If the download passes the test, the fault could be in the "user" folder containing your personal OpenOffice settings. I understand that on Windows, the path to that folder is likely to be something like: c:\documents and settings\username\Application Data\ OpenOffice.org2\user

Deleting that directory did the trick. Thanks for the help.
Also, thanks to the person who pointed out the F11 styles system, though it wasn't immediately useful information.
