OpenOffice.org (OOo) is an integrated program. Writer is only one
component of OOo. It is NOT a separate program. OOO consists of a
core unit which all other units use plus the individual units. This
core unit is at least 75% of the entire program.
You must download the entire program. However, you can choose to
install only Writer (plus the core unit). Early in the install, a
window includes a choice of Custom Install. Choose it and you can
install only Writer. But be advised, it will not be much smaller than
the full install because of the size of the core.
