Michael:

No, you are not doing something wrong.  X11 is a windowing system that is 
usually found on most UNIX systems.  Apple decided not to include this product 
in its basic operating system installation.  However, it is not difficult to 
install and requires the use of the installation diskset that came with your 
iMac(s).  

Insert the installation disk into the optical drive and wait for the software 
installation screen to come up.  Select Optional Packages, which you may have 
to scroll down the screen to see, and then install ONLY the X11 User package.  
Once the installation screen states that the package was successfully 
installed, eject the disk and attempt to start up OpenOffice.org 2.0.3 (that is 
the latest version for American English, German, Italian, French and Japanese.) 
 You should be asked if you want to use the system fonts.  If you still receive 
an error advising that you do not have X11 installed, please post a message on 
the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list.
