Yes it is. Cathy needs to open System > Administration > Synaptic. In
the list of applications she will find OpenOffice.org 2.0. Right-click
on it and select Mark for Installation. Then click on Apply. Ubuntu
will then install it for her.

If Cathy has the French version of Ubuntu the above should install the
French version and language files for OpenOffice.org. After installing
it she can use Synaptic to install additional language files. For
example, I have the US English version and dictionaries for
OpenOffice.org, but I also write sometimes in Spanish, so I installed
one of the Spanish dictionaries as well.
