If you don't have a recent version of the jre, go to the site: www.java.com and follow the instructions given on this page. AFAIK, Mandriva comes with jre 1.4.2_06, which might be too old for base. Now, some step by step instructions for installation: I guess, you have already the rpm-version downloaded. Please unpack the file. You can do this by using your filemanager (Konqueror, nautilus, Krusader...). Go to the subdirectory RPMS, enter the directory "Desktop integration" and move the file for the mandriva-desktop- integration to the upper (RPMS) directory. When you've done this, please open a console and go to the directory, where you unpacked the file (type "cd /your/directory/with/the/unpacked/files/RPMS") (without the quotes). When you're there, type "ls -la" and you'll see a list of the files in this directory. If you see a list with a lot of *.rpm files you've done it correctly. ;) Then type "su" (Enter) followed by your "root"-password. (Take care, you will not see a sign while typing). Then your boot-prompt changes from your username to root. Type then "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" and the install process will start. You should be able to start OOo from the menu (when you've moved the package for the desktop integration) or, when this doesn't work for you, you can start OOo by opening a console and typing "soffice &". Hope, this helps you. Sigrid --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
