If you can do everything you want in openoffice 1.1.3, there's no real need to upgrade other than keeping up with the latest developements.

I'll just point out that it is much easier to create/customize the palettes for hatching, and colour gradients for OOo 1.1.x than 2.0.

Additionally, several features that are of immense help to people who create new styles on a daily basis are present in 1.1.x, but not in 2.0.x.

I'd file an issue if I thought it would be worthwhile, but prior experience indicates that issues are, at best ignored, when it comes to features that make OOo more productive for people that rely on document creation.

The problem with converting could be that you create a document using 2.0 features which you lose again on saving the file.

Or save everything in 1.1.x format, using ODT only when mailing the file to somebody else. [Note: If you customize the colour gradient, hatching, or other palettes, styles etc that use them will look different, on systems that don't have the same palettes installed.]
