You may have to associate the old OOo files to the OOo 2.0
installation. I personally never had any troubles with old OOo files
when installing version 2.0 however...

Try opening OOo first, then opening a .sxw file from the menu - does
the filter box still display?

You could do that, but the suite would only shrink by a small
percentage (maybe 10-20%). You can do an advanced installation and
only select the components you want. There is a lot of functionality
all the packages have in common.

advanced installation = custom install
