Dear sirs,
In compliance with the book "Beginning Ubuntu Linux: From Novice to
Professional" by Mr. Keir Thomas and (Apress) , I have installed 'Ubuntu Linux"
on my PC [already running MS Windows XP] from the CD supplied alongwith the
book.
The Installation was trouble free. Both MS Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux are
running ok under dual boot (GRUB) system. However, when I work with any of the
various openoffice.org Writer/Impress/Cal etc directories, the system gets
extremely slowed down with too frequent crashes. Each file has to be 'forced
quit'. On opening files again, I am asked 'recover' these; each recovery takes
more than five minutes. It is impossible to work with the system. It is
noteworthy that openoffice.org Games is working fine.
I am a 'newbie' and despite reporting to different fora, help is not coming
forth; neither the author [Mr. Keir Thomas] nor the piblishers (Apress) appears
to be taking note of my prayers.
Will anyone kindly suggest the remedy?.
And, if must unstall/reinstall Ubuntu, how do I do it?
With deep respects,
NASAR SKT
