Because of the way the Internet is set up, anything that's not encrypted can be read. Now, in order to do so, one has to have access to some point where your Internet traffic can be accessed, such as at your ISP etc. Unlike what some people claim, your data does not automatically appear everywhere on the net, but you have no control over where it goes. And as pointed out, every email has all that header info, the same stuff that the web site shows. It's hard for the site owners to be held liable for revealing something that's already been revealed. If you want confidential communications, use encryption, not just for bank sites etc., but also for email. Another thing you should do, is stop using Windows. It has many security vulnerabilities, that simply don't occur with other platforms. As someone else mentioned, a common attack on Windows is key loggers, which capture *EVERYTHING* you type. Incidentally, the consensus among security professionals is that open source software is the way to go. That rules out anything from Microsoft. Remember, anything posted in a list like this, is comparable to sticking it up on a supermarket bulletin board, complete with return address. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
