Sadly that doesn't work either.

Anyone else any ideas?

Can anyone help me loose these annoying blank lines when I merge a
database (addresses) from an Open Office Base where some of the
addresses have blank fields.

I followed the instructions at the end of
http://documentation.openoffice.org/HOW_TO/word_processing/writer2_EN.html
but this removes the line if it is blank or not.

It looks as if that info is old ...

These two should work:
   ![<name database>.<name table>.<name field>]
or
    <name database>.<name table>.<name field> EQ ""

(don't type the < > )
