More work for the OP but what about keeping notes in a simple html

Could the html file be a writer sub-document?

Just a thought.

I will need to take a look at this. Folks have had some interesting ideas. This is analogous however to some other project I would like to build. as part of my work, like most people, I write. And when I send out documents for comments, trying to deal with all of the copies and tracking changes is a royal pain in the ass. So what I've taken to doing is sending a single copy of around to all the different people so I can get all of the changes incorporated into one document.

What I really want for collaboration is the ability to send out references to a document, individual people can highlight sections of that document and then add marginal notes. Those notes are then available to the originator and the author(s) so that the author can update the original document.

I may create something like this in a browser if I have enough time over the next few months. But in the short term, I do to find a different solution. Thanks for the suggestions.
